When your child starts at nursery you’re bound to have lots of questions. Here are some frequently asked questions that we get asked a lot but feel free to also call us and we’ll answer any queries you may have.

These short sessions at nursery help little ones (and their parents/carers) get used to the nursery before they start their normal hours. It can take a few sessions for your child to feel settled. All settings offer short one to two hour sessions but the actual settling-in process will vary however depending on how your child is, as we go at their pace and are led by them. Settling is a really important process as it builds trust, security and attachment.

  • Change of clothing (including underwear), nappies and wipes
  • Comforter
  • Nappy cream
  • Weather appropriate outdoor clothing (wellies, outdoor coat, waterproofs and something warm in the winter months – sunhat for warm, sunny weather).

We accept all forms of vouchers and payments from Tax Free Childcare Accounts. You may need some information from us to set these up, such as Ofsted registration
numbers.

This is not a problem although please inform us as soon as possible. A password system will be set up if we have not met the person before.

The child’s key person will keep an up-to-date record on your child’s progress they will share this information with you regularly using our online system. At the end of each session staff members will talk you through your child’s day sharing vital information such as what your child has eaten, if they have had a sleep, drinks etc…

No, unfortunately at nursery we have a strict policy on exclusion periods. For sickness and diarrhoea children must be away from nursery for 48 hours after their last symptom.

We supply all snacks, drinks and meals for your child except for any prescribed milk powder. We do not allow you to supply your own food as we adhere to strict guidelines regarding allergies and intolerances within the nursery.

This is the Early Years Foundation Stage, it is the Government’s curriculum for children’s growth and development from birth to 5 years. Please ask a member of staff for a copy of our EYFS policy.

We have stringent recruitment policies and procedures. As per statutory guidelines, at least 50% of room staff are qualified and those who are not qualified are deemed to be competent and responsible to work alongside their role models and mentors.

Babies from 4 months to 2 years are on a 1:3 ratio.
2 to 3 year olds are on a 1:4 ratio.
3 to 5 year olds are on a 1:8 ratio.
